Anjali wants to become a doctor

Twelve year old Anjali hails from the village of Dungra jat in Uttar Pradesh. She is a mischievous girl, but without malice. She studies in grade 8, and her favourite subjects are English and Drawing. Her father, Rajkumar, is a farmer and her mother, Babita, is a housewife.

She likes playing Kho-Kho, and unlike other girls of her age, she is not interested in singing or dancing. Her father is addicted to drink, and often beats her mother. Anjali wants to study hard so she can become a doctor, and get her mother to live with her.
