Nishu, the trailblazer
posted October 23, 2011
Nishu loves the experience of speaking English and the rush of self-confidence that
goes with it. She lives with her parents and two brothers. Her father, the sole breadwinner, is an illiterate farmer. The entire family lives in a two room house which doesn’t have toilets and electricity. They have a hand pump for water. Also her family owns two buffaloes which are used for milk and as a source of labor.
Nishu is very artistic and enjoys expressing her talent through Microsoft Paint. Her favorite subject is English and Computer science. Nishu is one of the trailblazers in her community: a girl who desires to break away from the shackles of tradition and equip herself with computer training and English skills.
Your donations, Yosia, Erik, Subash, Jamie, Leigh, Steve (x2), Stacy (x2), and Gregory (x3), will ensure that Nishu gets one computer skills class and one spoken English class every week for an entire year. Both these are essential skills for a girl who wants to go in for higher education and a professional career. Learning these skills will also give Nishu the much needed confidence to succeed.
Thank you, Yosia, Stacy, Erik, Subash, Jamie, Leigh, Steve, Stacy, and Gregory for coming together to provide essential skills to Nishu.
